GENERAL PROGRAM

SPECIFIC SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

Each athlete will work on improving the technical and physical skills specific to their discipline, such as running technique, jumping, or hurdles.

PHYSICAL CONDITION GROWTH

Training programs that include strength, endurance, speed and flexibility exercises will be implemented to improve the overall physical condition of the athletes.

Injury prevention

Proper warm-up, cool-down, and stretching techniques, as well as strengthening exercises, will be taught and practiced to prevent common injuries in athletics.

Recovery Optimization

Strategies and resources will be provided for effective recovery, including pool use, relaxation techniques, and proper nutrition plans.

  • Improve reaction and exit times.

High jump

  • Improve takeoff and flight technique.
  • Increase strength and flexibility.
  • Develop coordination and body control.

Long jump

  • Optimize running and take-off technique.
  • Increase explosive strength and speed.
  • Improve landing technique.

Shot put

  • Throwing Technique: Perfect throwing technique, including grip, starting position, spin (or slide), and weight release.
  • Strength and Power: Increase muscle strength and power through specific weight lifting exercises and resistance training.
  • Coordination and Balance: Improve coordination and balance to ensure efficient and safe throwing.
  • Flexibility and mobility: Increase flexibility and mobility of the shoulders, hips and ankles to improve range of motion and throwing technique.

Irene Sánchez-Escribano

Born in Toledo on August 25, 1992, Irene Sánchez-Escribano is an athlete specialized in the 3000 meter hurdles and cross country. He began his athletic career at the San Ildefonso Athletics Club and moved to Madrid in 2010 to study Medicine and train at the High Performance Center under the direction of Antonio Serrano.

Irene has been Spanish champion in the 3000 meter hurdles on multiple occasions (2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021) and has represented Spain in European and world championships.

At the 2024 Paris Olympics, he reached the final of the 3000 meter steeplechase, achieving his personal best of 9:10.53.

Her perseverance and dedication have made her one of the best hurdlers in Spain.

Irene Sánchez Escribano studied Medicine in Madrid, combining her studies with her sports career at the High Performance Center under the direction of Antonio Serrano.

Carlos Mayo

Carlos Mayo Nieto, born in Madrid on September 18, 1995, is a specialist in long-distance races. He has stood out in international competitions since he was young, being European Under-23 champion in the 10,000 meters in 2017.

In 2022, he was proclaimed Spanish champion of 10,000 meters with a mark of 27:38.59.

In October 2023, Carlos broke the Spanish half marathon record with a time of 59:39.

In addition, he has participated in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and world championships, demonstrating his ability to compete at the highest level.

His recent foray into the marathon, with his sights set on the Paris Olympics, marks a new chapter in his career.

Carlos Mayo has an outstanding academic background. He studied Medicine and, after completing his degree in 2019, he began a doctorate at the San Jorge University. His research focuses on the biomechanical factors that determine the occurrence of injuries in long-distance runners.

Both athletes have managed to balance their studies with their successful sports careers, demonstrating great dedication and time management skills.
